Where to find Inspiration during this Lockdown

posted in: Blog | 2

At present many of us are in the throws of this virus problem and the lockdown that has followed. it is a tough time for everyone with the isolation and restrictions in travel and seeing family. As an artist, I am fortunate to have my husband here with me and my studio in the back garden. The frustration remains with the lack of contact with other family and friends, artists, groups ,galleries,  as well as the freedom to wander with artist friends to find the perfect Plein air spot to paint. it is also very frustrating not to be able to join my family and friends in BC Canada.

I have been using my garden and studio as inspiration for painting. The roses and other flowers have been amazing this spring along with the weather. I have been leaving my French easels out in the garden so it is easy to just go out and start a new painting. We are fortunate to live on the edge of the South Downs so I can take a 20 minute walk (which is allowed) to enjoy their beauty and talk to an occasional cow.

I thought that I would share some of the areas that have inspired me. You may find some of the finished pieces on the website and social media as well. I hope that you enjoy this wander through my garden and the south downs.

Well, there is my morning inspiration, Judy. What a blessing that we can find peace and joy at our doorsteps. We just have to look. Thanks for this!

Constance Howard always said that you can find inspiration in your own back yard. I have always reminded myself and my students of that. Your inspiration is great. Thanks for sharing, Judy.
